Upcycling waste plastic bottles into an ingredient for polyester polyols

This article in Urethanes Technology International looks at the chemical process we use to manufacture polyester polyols from shredded PET waste. We’re excited about the impact this initiative will have in helping to mitigate plastic pollution while contributing to the circular economy.

Leslie Gyertson, our COO, is quoted: “Buildings account for roughly 30 percent of global CO₂ emissions, and up to half of these emissions can be avoided through proper insulation. Foam insulation that incorporates waste PET bottles achieves an even greater impact. It’s not just recycling — it’s upcycling.”
